Powers

Image
When it comes to characters, one thing I always want to like about them is their powers, skills, and how they utilize them. While I do love characters like Hulk, Thor, and Superman for powers like super strength, durability, healing, and flight, I also want to see how they use these powers in ways that many people wouldn't think of if they had them.  Examples of this would be using super strength in tandem with flight such as flying at high speeds to deliver a super-strong punch to a villain or using your super strength to do a thunderclap or jump long distances. (Super strong Round of Applause) (Super strong Legs) (Very painful flying punch) Uses like these make me appreciate the character more as the writers found a way to make superpowers interesting despite many characters having the same power(s). Moments like these also can be good development moments for characters as well as they have also found ways to better utilize their powers in a fight and better understand how they c

Relating to the Mighty and Not So Mighty

When reading about characters such as Hulk, Thor, Superman, Silver Surfer, Wonder Woman, Shazam, or Sentry, I always like reading stories about them that delve deep into their histories such as their personality, personal struggles, relationships, and many other factors. I say this as these characters have many things in common such as ungodly amounts of strength and power of which characters like Hulk and Superman can increase to even more absurd levels which would make them appear to be unbeatable. We all know that a character who is unbeatable is not interesting as they would beat the villain without breaking a sweat and not having anything at stake other than some minor property damage and hurt feelings.     While I have been guilty of finding characters interesting because of their powers, I have come to realize that a character is interesting because of how they work on a mental level rather than how hard they can punch a planet into pieces. The first character that exposed

Hulk

You've probably heard of him, you've probably seen him in films, video games, and tv shows, and know his famous catchphrase. For me, the Hulk has been one of the greatest heroes that Marvel has ever created and deserves a lot more love from audiences for both the films and comics. While I could go on for hours and hours of all the crazy feats of strength that Hulk has pulled off over the years in the comics, I thought I should focus on what he means to me and why his character and Bruce Banner's are one the greatest. When I think of Hulk, I not only think of the rampaging green (sometimes Gray) monster, I also think of the tortured soul of Bruce Banner and the sadness that both he and Hulk have been through together.       For a little backstory, Bruce was abused by his father Brian as Brian believed his work with radiation caused Bruce to be a monster as he was smarter than kids his age and when Bruce and his mom tried to flee, Brian killed her. Brian was eventually p

Spider-Man and His Web of Influence on Me

When it comes to Spider-Man, I feel like there have been few heroes or villains who have been as relatable as Peter Parker has been for me. When hearing about Spider-Man you no doubt think of the actors such as Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, or the current actor Tom Holland, but for me, it will always be the source material.      When it comes to Spider-Man, the comics always come to my mind first and foremost as they are what I was exposed to first when it came to Peter Parker's life as Spider-Man. When I read the comics, I didn't know how he wasintersting to so many people, but as I got older I started to see why he was loved by many. Peter goes through the same struggles we do such as finding a job that pays well, a girlfriend/boyfriend, a place to stay, and managing time for different things. Tobey Maguire's movies contributed to this growing understanding, with Spider-Man 2 being the one that contributed the most. Tobey's Spider-Man and the comics version wer
